Terms & Conditions of Hire

Boarding times and finishing times

The crew will endeavour to board your guests 15 minutes before the scheduled sailing time. The vessel will then return back alongside the point of departure 15 minutes before the hire time expires, the host and guests will be expected to vacate the vessel in remaining time.

The vessel is not allowed to make any intermediate stops for disembarking or embarking, unless previously arranged or in the event of an emergency.

The crew will try to accommodate late arriving guests to the best of their abilities, but cannot guarantee that the vessel will stay alongside after the departure time has passed.

Alcohol

Passengers are prohibited from bringing and consuming their own alcohol aboard the vessel.

The crew reserve the right to search guests for alcohol before they enter the vessel.

Any persons found consuming their own alcohol aboard the vessel will be ejected from the vessel and the river police will be informed.

Persons under the age of 18 are not allowed to consume alcohol aboard the vessel.

The crew and bar-staff reserve the right to ask passengers for proof of age, (passport or driving licence), if consuming or buying alcohol.

Any person caught supplying alcohol to a minor will be ejected from the vessel and the river police will be informed.

If the crew find evidence of alcohol which has not been purchased on the vessel, (i.e.  bottles and cans), they reserve the right to terminate the party.

Gifts or presents containing alcohol are allowed on the vessel but must not be consumed aboard.

The crew and bar staff reserve the right to refuse to serve passengers alcohol.

The crew reserve the right to disallow persons aboard the vessel if they appear to be inebriated.

Behaviour

Colliers Launches operate a zero tolerance to violent or aggressive behaviour physical or verbal aboard the vessel, and the crew reserve the right to eject any persons from the vessel who behave otherwise.

The crew reserve the right to cancel any function in which aggressive or violent behaviour takes place.

The crew reserve the right to disallow persons aboard the vessel if they display violent or aggressive behaviour.

Music

Any DJ’s booked aboard our vessels must adhere to the following rules;

All equipment bought aboard must be P.A.T tested within a year of the function

All DJ’s are instructed to terminate the music 15 minutes before the end of the hire time, refusal to do so may result in the DJ’s power being shut off.

All music played by DJ’s is played through a noise limiter, excessive volume will result in the music being temporarily cut off.

Strobe lights and blinking lights are not permitted aboard the vessel.

Any DJ planning on working on one of our vessels will have to produce a copy of their public liability insurance before the event.

DJ’s are advised that vinyl records are not always suitable on a boat due to instability.

All music aboard the boat must be switched of when going through a lock, the crew will advise when to switch the music on and off.

All music is to be switched off between Richmond lock and Petersham  meadows after 2300hrs.

DJ’s are advised that large bulky equipment and speakers are not suitable for the vessel, please keep equipment size and amount to a minimum.

DJ’s are advised that there is limited time to load and unload equipment, please load and unload the equipment as quickly as possible when arriving and disembarking and start packing equipment away ready for removal in the 15 minutes leading up to the end of the party.

The use of gaffa, elephant tape or other similar fixings are not allowed aboard the vessel.

Please confer with crew and bar staff on the night of the function with regards to locating DJ equipment, remember that exits have to kept clear at all times.

Decorations

The crew of the vessel will endeavour to have the vessel available 30 minutes before the departure time (may incur extra pier charges as applicable ) if previously arranged for boat decoration purposes.

For example:

If your hire is from 1:00 pm, boarding for you and your guests will be from 12:45 pm so you can decorate from 12:30 pm at no extra charge.

If you require more than the extra 15 minutes in the above scenario, from boarding, to decorate yourself (continuous hire) additional hire charges @ £300.00 per hour or part thereof will apply.

Persons are advised to fix decorations with non-destructive fixings, (i.e. sellotape and blue tac), drawing pins, nails, parcel tape and gaffa tape are not allowed.

Party poppers, glitter, streamers, confetti, silly string and other similar items are not allowed to be used due to their destructive qualities to the interior furnishings.

The crew of the vessel reserve the right to refuse certain decorative materials aboard.

Children

Well behaved children are welcome aboard any Colliers Launches vessel but must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in any enclosed area on the vessel; however smoking is permitted on the open deck.

Food and catering

All food items containing meat or fish bought aboard our vessels has to be consumed or disposed of within 2 hours of the start of the function.

Chefs or catering staff must confer with Colliers Launches before the day of the function if they intend to use electric apparatus to heat food or water or any type of gas powered equipment for barbeques.

Catering staff are required to dispose of uneaten food in bin liners, ensuring that they are not overfilled – to ensure easy transportation and disposal.

Caters are advised that table space may be limited on our vessels and that tables provided are intended for passenger use – please bring additional trestle tables if needed.

Please confer with crew and bar staff on the night of the function with regards to locating catering equipment, remember that exits have to kept clear at all times.

Self-Catering

Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire Ltd prefer to use their own caterers as they are familiar with the limitations of catering on a passenger boat (there are no cooking facilities or preparation areas on board).

If the Hirers of the Vessel decide to self-cater there is a surcharge of £300.00 (food only) payable.

If the Hirers of the Vessel or their caterer require more time (in addition to up to 4 hours’ continuous hire) to load, additional hire charges and pier charges (as applicable) will apply.

Also the Hirers of the Vessel or their caterer are responsible for clearing up.

Also Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire Ltd require a copy of their caterer’s public liability insurance or a waiver. A waiver will be supplied for completion by the Hirers of the Vessel on request.

Where the Hirers of the Vessel is self-catering (food only), Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire Ltd.’s Terms and Conditions are as follows :

Colliers Launches is unable to provide any kitchen, food preparation facilities or equipment for self-catered events. All beverages including alcohol must be served by Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire Ltd

Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire ltd will not be liable for any illness resulting from the provision of food served at the event

Hirers of the vessel shall take all necessary precautions throughout the purchase, preparation, storage and service of food at the event to ensure that the self-catered event will be compliant under the terms of the Food Safety Act 1990 (as amended).

Hirers of the vessel must make all attendees aware that the event will not be supported by Colliers Launches Thames Boat Hire Ltd and that the person hiring the vessel will not be covered by Colliers Launches’ Thames Boat Hire Ltd insurance policy.

It is the responsibility of Hirers of the vessel to maintain the cleanliness of the area including the disposal of unused food and rubbish.

Music through the PA system

Colliers Launches offer an option for persons hiring the boat to provide background music to their guests.

Please be advised to create a playlist on your mP3 player media device that is of sufficient length for the boat hire, the changing of devices or playlists is at the captain’s discretion, bearing in mind that access is located in the wheel-box.

Bear in mind that music played through the PA system is for background purposes only, the volume will not exceed a certain threshold.

Please bring the appropriate charging device for your mp3 player or media device.

Please be aware that the primary use for the ships PA system is to make announcements to passengers, the captain of the vessel may need to interrupt the music in order to make an announcement.

Please be aware that all exterior/outdoor speakers will be muted for the broadcast of background music.

Destinations

Please confer with our booking agent if you require the vessel to sail to a particular point of interest or area.

In the unlikely event of fog or poor visibility, the vessel may not be able to sail on the day of hire.

Please be advised that due to tidal conditions and unpredictable factors, the vessel may have to alter its passage plan during the course of the hire period.

Booking conditions

To confirm a hire and time slot of one of our boats,  a non-refundable deposit of £500.00 together with a completed and signed booking application (sent with your initial quote ) is required:

The balance of payment for all your requirements is due one month before the function takes place.

Colliers launches reserve the right to change the hire vessel in the unlikely event of mechanical breakdown or other prevailing circumstances.

In the event that the customer needs to cancel the hire, Colliers Launches will endeavour to help reschedule the date for the future.

Any payment received by Colliers Launches is non-refundable unless Colliers Launches cannot honour a hire agreement or our Covid Policy applies – see below.

COVID POLICY

If your function can not go ahead due to government policy and or restrictions we will offer to postpone your booking to a mutually convenient date.

If you decide to cancel due to Covid government policy we will refund a maximum of 50% of your deposit. Admin fees of £250.00 will apply plus any out of pocket expenses incurred by Colliers Launches e.g Pier charges.

Complaints

Any complaints about the service given by Colliers Launches must be given to the captain before the end of the hire period. Complaints issued after the hire period may not be accepted by Colliers Launches.

Damage or loss

Persons hiring the vessel are liable for any loss or damage to equipment or fittings incurred in the hire period or whilst the hirer or guests are aboard. The person hiring the boat is entitled to inspect the boat before the function commences.
